September 1, 2011
Dear Parents:
This past spring, your student participated in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP). This test was developed to show progress in relation to the Missouri State Standards. It is now required that all Missouri public schools take the MAP. It measures your child’s progress as he/she moves through the Crest Ridge Schools.
The information received from these tests are not only used at Crest Ridge to make decisions about curriculum and instructional practices, but are also used by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to monitor progress in meeting the Missouri State Standards. The data used from the tests are used to inform the public about school progress according to the No Child Left Behind legislation.
This assessment includes multiple choice questions as well as short answer responses. At some grade levels, longer questions require students to analyze information and give more comprehensive responses.
The MAP is an evolving and changing test. It is important that parents receive and keep this information on your child’s performance. This information is ideal to help you plan with your child for their future goals and aspirations. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s results, you may call the school to speak to Mrs. Shelton or myself at 660-656-3391.
Yours in Education,
Gary J. Manning
Secondary School Principal
