CRE PTO Fundraiser-“Spell Yourself Around the World”
Spelling tests will take place this week and pledge sheets are due January 20th. Students should be completed with all tests and all pledges should be collected by February 22nd. All students receiving 100% on all spelling tests will be recognized at the end of the fundraiser, regardless of pledge amounts. Those students collecting pledges will find a list of prizes with collection amounts on the back of the spell-a-thon rule sheet. Good luck to all CRE students!

In an effort to save paper and copying costs, Mrs. Smart’s newsletter will be sent via email to parents that have given email addresses to their child’s teacher or to the office. Please make sure we have your up-to-date email address. Currently, the newsletter is on our district webpage for your convenience, http://www.crestridge.org. Look for the March newsletters to be emailed to parents that have email accounts. Copies of the newsletter will be sent home with students to those parents that do not have computer access.
Cougar T-Time
Cougar T-times are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays until 4:00 PM. Please remember to send a note each time your child will be attending. These dates are January 23, 25 and 30th. Please mark your calendars.
AR (Accelerated Reading Program)
AR meets after school from 3:15 to 4:15 PM in the library with teacher sponsors on Mondays for grades 1 & 2 and Wednesdays for grades 3-5. Students may read and take AR tests. The students enjoy this time with friends and have time to use the library and computer lab. The scheduled dates are January 23, 25 and 30th. Please mark your calendars and remember to send a note each time your child will be attending.
Three and Four-year-old Screenings
Our three and four-year-old screenings are scheduled for February 27 and February 28 from 4-7PM and February 29 from 8-10 AM. All screenings will be held at Crest Ridge Elementary. Please help us pass along screening information to any parent of a three and four-year old living within our Crest Ridge School District.
Family Reading Night
Make plans to attend our CRE Family Reading Night on February 21, 2012 from 6-7:30 PM.
Weather Reminder
A note was sent home with the students summarizing the details for inclement weather. The note includes the district’s late start and snow cancellation procedures and the radio and television stations to listen to if inclement weather occurs. Information about inclement weather decisions will be given on our District Web Site: www.crestridge.org, District School Reach and District Text Caster. Area radio stations to listen to are: KOKO-1450 AM, The Bar-98.5 FM, KMZU-100.7 FM, KMMO-102.9 FM, KDKD 95.3, The Classic-1280 AM, KSIS-1050 AM, and KXKX-105.7 FM. Kansas City TV Stations to watch are: KMBC-9, KCTV-5, and KSHB-41.
CRE Honor Roll
The Crest Ridge 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Honor Roll students are collecting Box Tops, Coke Reward Codes (found on Coke product caps and inside Coke product boxes) and Campbell's Soup Labels. The Elementary Honor Roll is also having classroom competitions to see which class can raise the most money for our service project, Pennies for the Planet. This money will go towards preserving our Barrier Islands, protecting The Arctic Ocean and restoring the Sabal Palm Forest.
CRE Yearbook
It is that time of year and we are working on the CRE Yearbook. The yearbook club would like to include pictures of our students in activities like scouts, football, and other events. Parents can email photos to Mrs. Kelli Meyrand at kmeyrand@crs.k12.mo.us. Our CRE PTO purchases yearbooks for every CRE student. The yearbook offers personalized memory pages. You can create a lasting personalized memory for your children. Parents can purchase personal ads for their child. You can design the page and include a picture with a personal message to your child. Personal ad prices are: ¼ page-$20, 1/2 page-$40, full page-$75.
Dental Screenings
Dr. Finnane, DDS, will be at our school on January 27, 2012 to perform dental screenings for students in 1st – 4th grades. She will only be here for part of the day, so we will have her screen as many students as possible during that time. If your child received the Fluoride Varnish permission slip, please complete the form and return it to school.
