“Sail Into Reading”

Family Reading Night

Thanks to all students and parents that attended last night. It was another huge success! A special thank you to Superintendent, Mrs. Julie Dill, for her presentation about Project K. I. D. S.. Our next Family Reading Night is planned for Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 6PM-7:30PM. Be sure to mark your calendars.

Cougar T-time

Additional dates have been scheduled to meet the needs of our students. Cougar T-times are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays until 4:00 PM. Please remember to send a note each time your child will be attending. These dates are February 27, 29, March 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 26, 28. Please mark your calendars. We will not have T-time on March 21 because of a scheduled faculty meeting.

AR (Accelerated Reading Program)

AR meets after school from 3:15 to 4:15 PM in the library with teacher sponsors on Mondays for grades 1 & 2 and Wednesdays for grades 3-5. Please remember to send a note each time your child will be attending. These dates are February 27, 29, March 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 26, 28. Please mark your calendars. We will not have AR on March 21 because of a scheduled faculty meeting.

CRE PTO Fundraiser-“Spell Yourself Around the World”

Spelling tests are completed and the students have been “around the world”. They started in New York and returned to the US in California in just 4 weeks. Students need to turn in all pledges and donations as soon as possible to receive prizes. Please send all Spell-a-Thon money to the school office in a sealed envelope marked Attn: PTO with the student’s name marked clearly on the outside. Thank You to all students for working so hard to “spell yourself around the world”.

CRE Yearbook

It is that time of year and we are working on the CRE Yearbook. The yearbook club would like to include pictures of our students in activities like scouts, football, and other events. Parents can email photos to Mrs. Kelli Meyrand at kmeyrand@crs.k12.mo.us. Our CRE PTO purchases yearbooks for every CRE student. The yearbook offers personalized memory pages. You can create a lasting personalized memory for your children. Parents can purchase personal ads for their child. You can design the page and include a picture with a personal message to your child. Personal ad prices are: ¼ page-$20, 1/2 page-$40, full page-$75. The deadline for personal ads is Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 3:30PM.

Yearbook Ads for Local Business Owners

Your support makes it possible for the PTO to provide a yearbook free of charge to each elementary student. Advertisements placed will have a guaranteed exposure of more than 300 people. Business Ad prices are as follows: Business card size ad-$20; ¼ page ad-$40; ½ page ad-$80; full page ad-$150. Advertisements and payment need to be turned in as soon as possible to Kelli Meyrand at the above email address or turned into the CRE office by February 29, 2012 at 3:30PM. CRE McTeacher Night at McDonald’s

Join the CRE teachers at McDonald’s in Warrensburg on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 4-8 PM. McDonald’s will donate 20% of food sales to CRE. See you there!

Hoops for Heart Fundraiser

Crest Ridge Elementary Hoops for Heart Fundraiser will be running from February 14th - March 2nd. All donations need to be made out to the American Heart Association. Three and Four-year-old Screenings

The Crest Ridge R-VII District is scheduling screenings for three and four-year-old children residing in the district who will not be entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2012. The free screening will check overall development, speech, hearing, health, and vision. The goal of the screening is to help parents become more knowledgeable about their child’s development and provide early detection of potential concerns.

Appointments for the screening should be scheduled in advance. The screening should take approximately one hour to one and half hours. The child should be accompanied by a parent or an adult who knows the child well. A confirmation letter will be sent along with a health questionnaire. The questionnaire will need to be brought to the screening along with the child’s immunization record.

Our three and four-year-old screenings are scheduled for February 27 and February 28 from 4-7PM and February 29 from 8-10 AM. All screenings will be held at Crest Ridge Elementary. Please call our office (660-656-3315) for an appointment.

Kindergarten Enrollment

Do you have a child or know someone who has a child that will turn five by August 1, 2012 and lives in the district? Kindergarten Transition meetings are being planned and more details about these nights will follow. Kindergarten Enrollment is planned for Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at CRE from 8-4PM. Required pieces of documentation needed for enrollment are: birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency, and social security number. A vision screening by an eye doctor is also needed for all students entering Kindergarten. Kindergarten Screening is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 7AM to 6PM. Looking further ahead …

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be taking the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) during April 11-20, 2012. If you have appointments that need to be scheduled, please try to avoid making appointments on these dates if possible.
