Dear Crest Ridge Community,

JOHNSON COUNTY R-VII (CREST RIDGE) SCHOOLS TO CLOSE THROUGH FRIDAY, APRIL 3

The Crest Ridge School District along with other Johnson County School Districts and I-70 Conference Schools will be closed through Friday, April 3rd.  Though this closure affects all programming at our schools including activity, athletic, extracurricular practices and competitions, weekend events and facility use by outside groups. We do have a solid plan for continuing the education of all K-12 students and providing the opportunity for students to receive school prepared meals.  School is tentatively set to resume on Monday, April 6th, but beware that we must reevaluate the safety of reopening school closer to that time.

Families and Crest Ridge community members can expect to receive updates and communication through our Cougar Alert messaging system, SMS messaging, social media and through our LIVE FEED and NEWS features on our app and website.  If you have not had the opportunity to see the current information already posted in regards to instruction and food service, please do so as initial information is already posted.  Knowing that the school closure is extended, we want to emphasize that our school is very willing to provide meals for all students at no cost to the family.

All families can expect to be individually contacted this week by a school employee.  It may be your elementary child’s homeroom teacher, middle or high school advisory teacher or someone else, but our intent is to make sure that all students have access to instructional materials even if internet or technology is a complication at your residence.  This school employee contact will also give families an opportunity to ask questions that may pertain to special circumstances that we may need to accommodate.

There are likely many questions that we can’t answer at the moment or at least until we get started with this new way of operating as a school district.  We very much appreciate your patience as a valued student and parent.  I also can not thank our entire staff enough for their commitment to be ready for any challenge that the coming days and weeks may bring in effort to still prioritize the well-being and education of our students during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Brett Gray

Crest Ridge Superintendent
