As a follow up to yesterday's National Stop Bullying Day, we wanted to put out some resources to help parents navigate the challenging world of youth peer interactions. Bullying is rooted in using a power imbalance to inflict harm on others, and our method is always to try to not only alleviate immediate safety concerns, but to equip students in correcting that power imbalance. Our goal is to prioritize the health and safety of all students, while trying to balance those safety needs with skills of independence and feelings of inherent self worth. The resources attached can help identify bullying behavior, help you empower your students to deal with verbal bullying, or to encourage students who aren't involved to report situations where others aren't treated with respect.

We would strongly encourage you watch the "How to stop a bully" video below by Brooks Gibbs, his methods encourage empowerment while drawing clear boundaries for unacceptable behavior. Educating victims is especially important given the reality of victim-bullies, who begin to bully others as a result of bullying.

We are always here to help and are thankful for all the support. If you ever have needs or questions, please feel free to reach out to any of us. It takes a village to raise a child.
